"Water Lily on Trump Lake"
The background on this oil painting was painted using left over
colors of paint on my palette from a previous painting.  It seemed
to be the perfect backdrop for my water lily photo!

"Happy Birthday Robin"
How fun making birthday cards, especially for family.  The cheery card is
fun to look at, now that the cold weather is here and snow is around the
corner.  Come on Spring!
I tried a new technique on this card.  The base card is Arches watercolor
paper, 140 lb.  I used a new stencil, with graded circles, and applied
a molding gel, for texture.  Then the lovely sparkly spray mists were
used, followed by floral stamps with Twinkling H20s as the medium.

Recently I start an art journal, featuring my prose poetry.
Rather than let it all sit in a folder in a closet, I decided
to put the verses into a journal and add art.  A watercolor
journal seemed perfect, as I do love watercolor so.

"Odd"
Tag of the Month for August 2013

The theme for this tag was 'how odd' or weird!  I must confess
I was rather stumped.  After rummaging through all my stamps,
it finally 'hit' me!  After all, an elephant being carried far away, high  in
the clouds, or a giraffe riding a bicycle are very strange indeed!

"Olivia"
This painting is of a friend's child, from a photo when they were
visiting at Long Lake.  Olivia is delightful and fun to paint!
The painting is done using oil paints and is 11 x 14.

How fun to be back in watercolor classes, doing some serious
work again!  These two scenes were studies in using salt for texture.

"Cardinal"
Last week in oil painting class, birds were the
favored subject matter.  How fun!  I discovered I love
doing feathers.

Monday, July 8, 2013

Spending time at the cabin, in a wonderful nature setting, is so inspiring for accomplishing some serious artwork!  All three scenes are done using dye ink on glossy, with stipple brushes and stylus tool.

"Owl - study in feathers"
This oil was a class project, using a calendar page as a
subject.  Making feathers is quite "testy", and I think I bit
off more than I could chew!  But I love his piercing eyes!

"Snow"
Tag of the Month for January 2013
"Snowy Creek in Black and White"
"Chilly Refreshment"

Watercolor is a fun medium to combine with rubber stamping!  The horse
image is by Sutter, and the snowy creek and trees are Stampscapes.
The watercolor I used this time are the Twinkling H20s.
